Monday Message

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  What beautiful weather!

This Friday is the Spring Fling.  Thank you to everyone that donated to our raffle basket.  It is greatly appreciated.
Last Friday we visited the book fair to preview all the wonderful books.  Your child should have brought home their wish list.  You are not obligated to buy anything, however, if you do wish to purchase please send the money with a list of what you would like your child to purchase.
This week we will begin our Junior Achievement classes.  Mrs. B. is a guest that will be coming to teach us about many different economics and business topics such as money, saving, spending, etc.   The kids will really enjoy these classes.
In writer's workshop we continue our work on persuasive letter writing.  Thank you for all the donations to our writing center.  The students are really motivated by all these new materials.
In Science, we continue our work on life cycles.  We have some caterpillars that we will be watching closely over the next 10 days or so.  We are also planting some seeds this week.  We will observe their growth and record it in our observation journal.   Hopefully we will have some nice plants to bring home in a week or two.
We also continue our study of word families.  We have now worked on the "ing" family as well as words that end with "an", "am", and "at".
In Math, we are continuing our work on problem solving.  We completed our work on addition and subtraction to ten.  Most students did very well.
The weather is getting warm and beautiful and it is important to play outside a lot.  However, it is also still important to read to or with your child every night for at least 15 minutes.
Thank You!
