Monday Message

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  It's hard to believe it is already May.  Our classroom experience with the chicks was a lot of fun! I know many of you were following along at home.  I hope you enjoyed it.
We will wrap up our study of animals this week while we talk about reptiles.
In Math, we are reviewing our addition strategies and then moving right in to subtraction and we will will finish our the year with 3D shapes.
Last week we too a written test over all 33 list 1 sight words.  This month's sight word work will be based on that test.  Your child will bring home their May packet today with their words listed for each week.  If you child correctly wrote all 33 words then they are finished with homework for the year.  (Please continue to read each day but do not worry about filling out the packet any more) Students that missed some words will have their written test at the end of each week.  This is our last chance to master those very important words.  It would be a great idea to review these words over the summer so everyone can start first grade with a strong foundation.
To celebrate Spring and the end of our animal unit we will be having a Teddy Bear Picnic with our third grade buddies this Friday, May 6th.  Please have your child bring their favorite stuffed animal, a snack (I'll provide water) and a beach towel to sit on.
The Sappington Archery team is headed to the National tournament in a couple weeks. They are selling paracord necklaces to raise money. Your child can purchase one Tuesday of this week for $5 if you'd like.
